Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a gentle, compassionate approach to therapy that helps you understand the different parts of yourself with curiosity instead of judgment. The understanding is that we are made up of many parts—or “sides”.

You may have a part that worries constantly, one that just wants to scream, another that avoids conflict, or one that carries deep hurt from the past. This is where the IFS saying, “no bad parts”, comes in! Rather than seeing these parts as flaws to fix, IFS recognizes that each part developed and is there for a reason—to protect and serve you in the best way it knows how!

But these parts can and do transform, with the right approach.

Together, we’ll create safety in therapy and within yourself to get to know these parts, help them feel heard, and gently heal the wounds they’ve been carrying or protecting—and only when they’re ready. As your inner world begins to feel more connected and compassionate, you’ll often find greater peace, confidence, and freedom in daily life! I send clients this video to learn more about IFS. It’s really all a great adventure.

What to expect?

Each individual therapy session is unique and unfolds at its own pace. Our time together may include conversation, emotional processing, inward focus, and reflection. My hope is to offer a warm, accepting space where every emotion, thought, and part of your story is welcome. While the healing process can sometimes feel uncomfortable or uncertain, I believe those moments often become the doorway to greater understanding, freedom, and change.

FAQ

Therapy didn’t work out for me in the past—why?

Healing is deeply personal, and the experience can vary greatly depending on the therapist, the approach, and where you are in your life. With trauma therapy, it can also take time to build safety and trust before deeper work can begin.

Do you see a therapist yourself?

Absolutely!

Do you only do IFS?

My work is largely based on the IFS model. Occasionally I will incorporate mindfulness-based or cognitive approaches, and am influenced by the humanistic ideas of unconditional positive regard and congruence (aka being really real!).

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 53 to 60 minutes long.

How long can I expect to be in therapy?

That is entirely up to you! I believe that this kind of work is something we can do for the rest of our lives. Some people like coming in for a short while to work on something specific, while others continue exploring parts in long-term weekly therapy.

Do you offer in-person or telehealth appointments?

I offer telehealth sessions only for those who live in Florida and Colorado.

Something I want you to know…

This work takes great courage and can be wondrous, surprising, and difficult.

I believe that every part we heal in ourselves creates a ripple that extends beyond us and contributes to the collective healing of our world.
